Knights of the Garter

The Knights of the Garter was started by King Edward III of England sometime between 1344 and 1348. For this purpose I will use the starting date as 1348. The original foundation was the King, the Prince of Wales, and 24 others. In 1786 King George III declared that the order would also include the sons of the king or his successors. In 1813 the number restriction was removed and in 1987 Queen Elizabeth II decided that females would be eligible.

This list contains all of my known ancestors who were knighted into the order. All of the links will take you to Wikipedia; however, that link will open up in a new page while keeping this site open.
