Saint Thomas More (1478-1535) - English lawyer, social philosopher, author, statesman, and noted Renaissance humanist. He was also a councilor to Henry VIII, and Lord High Chancellor of England from October 1529 to 16 May 1532. He wrote Utopia, published in 1516, about the political system of an imaginary, ideal island nation. Pope Pius XI canonized him as a martyr in 1935. My 13th great grandfather.
Sir John Harington, II (1561-1612): Writer and inventor of the flush toilet. My 10th great grandfather.
Myles Standish (1584-1656) and Barbara: Mayflower Passengers. He was the military adviser to Plymouth Colony. My 9th great grandparents.
John Alden I (1599-1687) and Priscilla Mullins: Mayflower Passengers and parents of the first English child born in America, Elizabeth Alden. My 9th great grandparents.
Captain Henry Morgan (1636-1688) & Mary Elizabeth Morgan (1640-1696): Privateer (“legal” pirate): Governor of Jamaica. While we are not directly related to Henry, we are related to his wife, Mary. She is my 1st cousin, 11x removed and 1st cousin, 12x removed (4 different ways). Many believe Henry is from the Morgan’s of Tredegar, but there is no proof. If he is, then he would be our blood relative and he and Mary would be cousins.
Caesar Rodney (1728-1784): Signer of the Declaration of Independence and President of Delaware. He was an officer in the Delaware militia during the French and Indian War. He is my 6th cousin, 9x removed (4 different ways) and 6th cousin, 10x removed.
General George Washington (1731-1799) & Martha Dandridge (1731-1802): 1st President of the United States. He is my 2nd cousin, 9x removed.
John Adams (1735-1826) & Abigail Smith (1744-1818): 2nd President of the United States. He is my 3rd cousin, 7x removed.
Nathaniel Gorham II (1738-1796): President of the Continental Congress & Signer of the U.S. Constitution. He is my 2nd cousin, 7x removed.
Dr. Elisha Story (1743-1805): Known Boston Tea Party participant. He is my 6th cousin, 8x removed. There were a lot of Boston Tea Party participants, but he is the only one of our relatives I have found that participated.
James Madison II (1751-1836) & Dolley Payne (1768-1849): 4th President of the United States. He is my 2nd cousin, 8x removed.
Noah Webster (1758-1843): 1st American dictionary in 1828. He was also a Revolutionary War Veteran and member of the Connecticut House of Representatives. He is my 3rd cousin, 9x removed.
Deborah Samson (1760-1827): Female soldier, teacher, weaver, lecturer, & farmer. She was a Massachusetts woman who disguised herself as a man in order to serve in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. She is my 3rd cousin, 6x removed and 3rd cousin, 10x removed.
Fletcher Christian (1764-1793): Mutiny on the Bounty. He is my 7th cousin, 5x removed. In the mutiny on the Bounty, Christian seized command of the ship from Captain Bligh on 28 April 1789.
John Quincy Adams (1767-1848) & Louisa Catherine Johnson (1775-1852): 6th President of the United States. He is my 4th cousin, 6x removed.
Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832): Novelist/Poet, most famous for the novels Ivanhoe and Rob Roy. His list of writings is quite lengthy. He is my 5th cousin, 8x removed.
Edmund Pendleton Gaines (1777-1849) Major General, served in the military from 1799 until 1832. The cities of Gainesville, Florida, Gainesville, Georgia, and Gainesville, Tennessee are named after him. He is my 2nd cousin, 7x removed.
Zachary Scott Taylor (1784-1850) & Margaret Smith (1788-1852): 12th President of the United States. He is my 9th cousin, 7x removed.
Eliphalet Remington (1793-1861): Founder of Remington Arms (rifles). He is my 5th cousin, 5x removed.
Franklin Pierce (1804-1869): 14th President of the United States. He is my 5th cousin, 6x removed.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882): Poet and Professor. Author of Paul Revere’s Ride and The Song of Hiawatha, and many other poems. He is my 4th cousin, 5x removed.
General Robert E. Lee (1807-1870) & Mary Anna Randolph Custis (1808-1873): General of the Confederate Army. He is my 5th cousin, 5x removed.
General George B. McClellan (1826-1885) & Mary Ellen Marcy (1835-1915): 4th Commanding General of the U.S. Army (Union) & 24th Governor of New Jersey. He was also a veteran of the Mexican-American War from 1846-1848. He is my 5th cousin, 6x removed.
Buffalo Bill (William Frederick Cody) (1846-1917): Wild West Entertainer, buffalo hunter. He is my 5th cousin, 6x removed.
William Howard Taft (1857-1930); 27th President, 42nd Secretary of War, & 10th Chief Justice of the United States. He is my 10th cousin, 4x removed.
Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919); 26th President, Adventurer. He is my 4th cousin, 4x removed.
Lizbeth (Lizzie) Andrew Borden (1860-1927): Accused axe murderess. Acquitted of murdering her father and stepmother in 1892. She is my 6th cousin, 4x removed.
Herman Webster Mudgett (aka Dr. H. H. Holmes) (1861-1896): Chicago Serial Killer during the Chicago World’s Fair. Convicted and hanged for nine 1st degree murders, though he confessed to 27. Some of those he confessed to have killed were later found alive, but the actual number may be more than 27. He has been portrayed in books and movie productions. He was a skillful con-artist and scammer as well as a habitual liar. He is my 8th cousin, 3x removed.
Hamilton Howard “Albert” Fish (1870-1936): Serial Killer, rapist, cannibal, child molester. He is also known as the Gray Man, the Werewolf of Wysteria, the Brooklyn Vampire, the Moon Maniac, and The Boogey Man. Fish once boasted that he "had children in every state", and at one time stated his number of victims was about 100. However, it is not known whether he was referring to rapes or cannibalization, nor is it known if the statement was truthful. He is my 5th cousin, 4x removed.
John Calvin Coolidge (1872-1933): 30th President of the United States. He is my 8th cousin, 2x removed.
Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill (1874-1965): Prime Minister of Great Britain. He is my 9th cousin, 2x removed.
Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Sr. (1882-1945): 32nd President, & Anna Eleanor Roosevelt (1884-1962): First Lady, Presidential Commission on the Status of Women, & United Nations Commission on Human Rights. He is my 9th cousin, 1x removed. She is my 5th cousin, 3x. They were 5th cousins. She and President Theodore Roosevelt were paternal 1st cousins.

Jane Seymour Fonda (1937-living): Actress and Activist. She is my 11th cousin, 3x removed and daughter of Henry Jaynes Fonda.
Bridget Jane Fonda (1964-living). Actress (retired). She is my 12th cousin, 2x removed and daughter of Peter Henry Fonda.
Troi O'Donovan Garity Hayden (aka Troy Garity) (1973-living): Actor. He is my 12th cousin, 2x removed and son of Jane Fonda.
George Orson Welles (1916-1985): Radio, Stage, & Movie Actor. He is my 8th cousin, 1x removed.
Anne Frances Robbins (1921-2016): 1st Lady of the United States, Actress. She is better known to us as Nancy Reagan, wife of President Ronald Reagan. She was called Nancy since birth. She is my 10th cousin (3 different ways).
Dick Van Dyke (Richard Wayne Van Dyke) (1925-living): Actor. He is my 9th cousin.
Dallas Frederick Burrows (aka Orson Bean) (1928-2020): Actor, Comedian. He is my 10th cousin.
Clint Eastwood, Jr. (1930-living): Actor. He is my 10th cousin, 2x removed and 11th cousin, 1x removed.
Jerry McCord Van Dyke (1931-2018): Actor & brother of Dick Van Dyke. He is my 9th cousin.
Skeeter Davis (birth name: Mary Frances Penick) (1931-2004): Country/Pop Singer and Songwriter. One of the first women to achieve major stardom in the country music field as a solo vocalist, she was an acknowledged influence on Tammy Wynette and Dolly Parton and was hailed as an "extraordinary country/pop singer" by The New York Times music critic Robert Palmer. She is my closest famous relative. She is my 4th cousin, 1x removed and my half 3rd cousin, 1x removed.
Grace Slick (Grace Barnett Wing) (1939-living): Singer, song writer for Jefferson Airplane (Jefferson Starship, Starship). She is my 10th cousin.
Raquel Welch (born: Jo Raquel Tejada-Urquizo) (1940-living): Actress & Singer. She is my 9th cousin, 1x removed.
Tuesday Weld (1943-living): Actress & Model. Her birth name was Susan Ker Weld. She had it legally changed to Tuesday in 1959. She is my 9th cousin, 9th cousin, 1x removed, 9th cousin, 2x removed and 10th cousin, 1x removed.
