My Hammons Genealogy
and other blood-related branches
John COLSON was born on February 7, 1769 in Pennsylvania Province and died on February 2, 1834 in Harrison County, Kentucky at the age of 64 years, 11 months, and 26 days. Currently he is the most distant known COLSON ancestor that I have found. There are many who show his father as Edward COLSON, but this individual appears to have never left England. If this is true then Edward cannot be John’s father since John was born in Pennsylvania. He married Eunice CASEY. Eunice’s parents were Irish immigrants. There are others who claim that John Colson was a Scottish immigrant. While I lean towards the Scottish connection, I have yet to find proof.
John and Eunice are my 5th great grandparents. My great grandfather, Thomas Alexander HAMMONS’ mother was Louisa Jane COULSON, great granddaughter of John COLSON.
