Ambrose⁹⁸ Hammon (c1725-1794)

Like his brother Rev. William⁹⁷ Hammon, we have a lot of information on Ambrose⁹⁸. He is beleived to be the second son of John⁹¹ Hammon, Sr. (1685- ca. 1758). There are many contributors, but most of the information I have has been provided by Neal¹⁴⁹¹ Owen Hammon who in turn received much of his information from his father, Stratton¹²⁴⁴ Owen Hammon. Much of this information comes from land transactions, church records, early tax lists, and his will.

Ambrose⁹⁸ was born in Caroline County, Virginia in about 1725. The large gap between his brother William⁹⁷ (b: ca. 1713) and Ambrose⁹⁸ is unexplainable at this time. The estimate on his birth year could be off significantly. His will is dated January 29, 1794 and probated August Term 1794. It is uncertain if January 29th is also his death date, but his name is last seen in 1794 and by 1795 records only his wife Ann's name is found. He died in Wilkes County, North Carolina and is buried in the Roaring River Baptist Church Cemetery.
